What this pandemic has taught me and figuring out how to love my wanderlust in quarantine.
The day that I came home from my bachelorette party in Cabo with eight of my closest friends was the day that the CDC had announced that people should only be in groups of 10 or less. Before that moment, contracting coronavirus didn’t seem that bad. It was just a strain of the flu, right? In Cabo, I didn’t have a care in the world. The pristine blue ocean still lapped onto shore, the clubs bounced through the night, and everyone was relaxed.
Coronavirus Lesson #1: The world can change in a blink of an eye, whether you are ready or not
My – what a different world it was when I got off the plane just four days later. It was surreal coming from one of the most beautiful locations in the world to a world where it wasn’t likely that the wedding or our Maldives & Bali honeymoon would happen. As I departed the plane, it dawned on me that Cabo could be my last trip in 2020, regardless of all my commitment to travel to 3 new countries this year.
The travel bug swept me up during my first trip abroad and it fueled my obsession to experience as much of the world as I can. What I love most about travel is it’s not just the destination, it’s the hours of researching, planning, and cultivating things to do. It’s digging through recommendations to find the secret sauce to make that trip unforgettable. The hours fly by when I’m mapping out the next adventure. Helping people find amazing experiences has always been a passion of mine, but I kept hemming and hawing that I could do it “someday…”
Coronavirus Lesson #2: There’s no better time than now.
Because tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. What this pandemic has taught me is that life is too short for what ifs and somedays. Something that I love has changed overnight and will likely look very different than what we expected. So, I’m starting my travel business in quarantine because I am committed to exploring the world and helping others do the same.
Coronavirus Lesson #3: You can shape your world by changing your perspective
Even though we are inside, I know that travel is more than just going to the destination. It’s exploring what to do, where to go, and how to get there.
I want to explore how to love traveling inside and find out what’s next in the travel industry. I’m committed to traveling and helping others travel.
So, come with me on this journey. I’ll be updating weekly with how I’m still exploring the world from my computer and dreaming up new ways for you to love your wanderlust.
Love, Kristie
